Working on Fire Training Academy is a charitable 501(c)(3) public entity dedicated to delivering professional wildland fire education and training. We provide state, federal, and NWCG-aligned instruction designed to prepare individuals and organizations for real-world wildfire operations. Our programs are delivered at your location and combine classroom learning with hands-on field exercises to build safe, skilled, and cohesive fire teams.

What the Customer Provides
To ensure a successful training program, the customer is responsible for:
- NStudent logistics and coordination
- NPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE), including helmets and chaps
- NClassroom facility for at least 18 students
- NWiFi, projector or TV screen, whiteboard or flip chart
- NBreak areas and restroom access
- NOn-site crew supervisor
- NJob Hazard Analysis (JHA) and medical plan
- NCEQA compliance and field site coordination
- NAssistance in securing field training locations
- NClass roster submitted one week before training
- NEquipment details (chainsaws, chippers, pole saws, weed eaters)
Facility Requirements
Classroom Setup
- NSeating for a minimum of 18 students plus instructors
- NDisplay screen or projector with HDMI access
- NWhiteboard or flip chart
- NAdequate desks and power outlets for devices
- NQuiet, distraction-free environment
- NAccess to restrooms and break areas
Field Training Requirements
- NVegetation suitable for brushing, limbing, and bucking
- NOpen area for chipper operations
- NStructures for defensible space and home ignition zone training
- NTrees available for felling practice (minimum of 30 for felling courses)
- NRange of simple to intermediate trees for skill progression
